O papel de uma organização não governamental no atendimento de vítimas de escalpelamento na Amazônia [The role of a nongovernmental organization in assisting victims of scalping in the Amazon]

Resumo

O escalpelamento é o acidente mais frequente nas embarcações na Amazônia e acontece usualmentequando as vítimas têm seus cabelos repentinamente puxados pelo eixo do motor de embarcações,arrancando bruscamente todo ou parte do couro cabeludo da vítima, levando a deformações graves eaté a morte. A partir da necessidade de fornecer um apoio psicossocial de readaptação das vítimas doescalpelamento à sociedade, foi criada em 2010 a Organização dos Ribeirinhos Vítimas de Acidentesde Motor (ORVAM). O objetivo do artigo foi descrever o papel da Organização dos Ribeirinhos Vítimasde Acidentes de Motor (ORVAM) na divulgação e atendimento de vítimas de escalpelamentona Amazônia. O método utilizado no artigo foi feito pela análise de dados secundários por meio deestudo documental fornecido pela ORVAM e por pesquisa na literatura, com a descrição do papel dainstituição na divulgação e no atendimento de vítimas de escalpelamento na Amazônia, no períodode 2010 a 2014. Como resultados foi descrito o início da ONG em 2010 com o acolhimento dasescalpeladas e a partir de 2011 ocorreu a confecção das primeiras perucas na instituição que são doadasa elas, surgiu no mesmo ano a necessidade de arrecadação de cabelos como matéria prima parasua confecção, e fomentou as campanhas de conscientização sobre o escalpelamento e luta contra opreconceito, por meio de um evento intitulado “Minha vida por um fio”, que teve como objetivodivulgar e arrecadar matéria prima (cabelos) e alimentos para a instituição, tendo continuidade até oano investigado. Por esse viés, onclui-se que a ORVAM desempenha um papel de acolhimento às vítimasde escalpelamento, mas ainda há muito o que se fazer por esse grupo, apontando a necessidadede maior investigação do paradeiro dessas vítimas que possuem um tratamento de continuidade e nãosomente de caráter imediato.

ABSTRACTS

calping is the most frequent accident on Amazon boats and usually occurs when victims have theirhair pulled by the engine shaft of the boat, abruptly ripping all or part of the victim’s scalp, leadingto severe deformation and even death. Based on the need to provide psychosocial support andrehabilit of victims of scalping, in 2010 the Organization of Motor Vehicle Accidents Victims (ORVAM)was created. The aim of the article was to describe the role of the ORVAM in awareness andcare of victims of scalping in the Amazon. The method used in the article was made by the analysisof secondary data through a documentary study provided by ORVAM and by a literature search,describing the role of the institution in awareness and care of victims of scalping in the Amazon,in the period of 2010 to 2014. As a result was described the beginning of the ORVAM in 2010 withthe reception of scalping`s victims and from 2011 the fi rst wigs were made in the institution that aredonated to them, it arose in the same year to the need of donation of hair as feedstock for theirpreparation, And promoted awareness-raising campaigns on scalping and anti-prejudice, with thefi rst event entitled “My life by a thread”, which aimed to disseminate and receive feedstock (hair)and food for the institution, continuing until year investigated. It is concluded that ORVAM playsa role of receiving the victims of scalping, but there is still much that can be done by this group,pointing out the need for further investigation of the whereabouts of those victims who have a continuitytreatment and not only immediate.
