Projeto SDS Amazonas: perspectivas e desafios para a Sustentabilidade - Project SDS Amazon: prospects and challenges for Sustainability

Resumo

O desenvolvimento sustentável como alternativa ao modelo hegemônico atual tem buscado minimizar os efeitos de riscos causados pela própria sociedade. O Fundo Amazônia, a exemplo disto, consiste em uma colaboração transnacional de diversos atores, que pretendem promover o uso sustentável das florestas no Bioma Amazônia, por meio de investimentos não-reembolsáveis em ações de prevenção, monitoramento e combate ao desmatamento. O projeto SDS Amazonas – gerido pelo Fundo – além das ações de prevenção, objetiva o reflorestamento de áreas devastadas e o fortalecimento da gestão ambiental no Estado do Amazonas. Assim, o presente artigo buscou analisar as interferências de atuação do Estado no Sul da Amazônia, por meio do projeto SDS Amazonas, bem como suas relações com a sustentabilidade das populações beneficiadas. Optou-se, portanto, por um estudo de natureza qualitativa, pois buscou-se avaliar a situação e gestão do referido projeto. A partir dos resultados alcançados, foi possível identificar avanços e limitações referentes ao projeto, e assim, sugerir alternativas que levem em consideração os pressupostos da sustentabilidade.

ABSTRACT

Fund, the example of this consists of a transnational collaboration of several actors who wish to promote sustainable use of forests in the Amazon Biome, through non-repayable investments in prevention, monitoring and combating deforestation. The SDS Amazonas project - managed by the Fund - as well as prevention, aims at reforestation of devastated areas and the strengthening of environmental management in the State of Amazonas. Thus, this paper aims to analyze the state action interference in the south of the Amazon, through the SDS Amazonas project as well as its relations with the sustainability of the beneficiary populations. We decided, therefore, for a study of a qualitative nature, as we sought to assess the situation and management of this project. From the results obtained, it was possible to identify advances and limitations relating to the project, and thus suggest alternatives that take into account the conditions of sustainability.
