Abstract

The main objective of this study is to understand the actions of the electricity sector in the state of Pará to reduce social inequality. Electricity plays a strategic role in the process of human development through government actions in the electricity sector. Deepening the understanding of the relationships between electricity and social inequality will provide relevant information for the decision-making process in public management, aiming to contribute to the reduction of social inequality as an integral part of human development. The research adopts an exploratory and descriptive approach, with data collected through socioeconomic statistics and documents related to the Socioeconomic Inclusion Program (PIS) for electricity in Pará. It is concluded that the Socioeconomic Inclusion Program (PIS) in the state of Pará was formulated based on the recognition of the relationships between inequality, energy poverty and energy exclusion, having positive effects on the public management of electricity in the areas where it has been implemented.
