RELIGIOUS HUMOR IN THE DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT BASED ON TELEVISION FORMATS: CANAL AMIGOS DA LUZ

This paper discusses the television techniques used by a spiritualist comedy channel in its narratives. It focuses on Canal Amigos da Luz, which focuses on spiritualism, based on two videos that draw on established television formats: the talk show and the soap opera. Based on televisuality (Rocha, 2019), proceeding with a stylistic analysis (Butler, 2010) of the materials, the text reveals a breakdown of the analysed pieces and considers that the communicative strategy of summoning repertoires from the television universe serves both to bring audiences accustomed to audiovisual media closer and to ironise television through the use of humour to address topics that are thorny for religion, such as the figure of the Devil and the logic of reincarnation. Finally, it is evident that digital media reveres television to ensure communicative efficiency and address complex religious themes through humour.
