Abstract

The solidarity economy is a set of economic activities that seeks to generate income through the union of workforce, talents and conscious consumption, reinforcing the relations between countryside and city and between producers and consumers. Thus, it becomes necessary to strengthen the Solidarity Economy as a strategy for economic inclusion and social reorganization, which offers a path with potential for sustainable and solidary local development. To this end, this study aims to analyze how the solidarity economy contributes to local development. As a methodology, a bibliographic research and a descriptive case study were carried out. It was concluded that the solidarity economy can be used as a strategy for local development, as it allows, in its structure and methodology, actions to promote and generate employment and income, with scope for a new standard of quality of life, appreciation of work under self-management, local potential, articulation between the actors involved in a democratic and socially fair way.
