Abstract

This article foregrounds the interartistic dialogue between Edyr Augusto’s literary work Pssica (2015) and its film adaptation, released on Netflix in 2025 under the same title. Structurally, the study is divided into two distinct sections. The first establishes a theoretical framework that contextualizes and defines the dynamics of intersemiotic negotiation across different systems. The second turns to an analysis of representations rooted in gender-based violence. The aim of this intellectual endeavor is to position both Literature and Cinema as global arenas of visibility, denunciation, and reflection on gender violence, while examining how such portrayals shape public perceptions of the social contexts they address. Furthermore, the study seeks to contribute to research on female imagotypes in Portuguese literatures and to the broader understanding of cultural and Lusophone spaces.
